Benjamin Rosenbluth, MD, is Chief of Radiation Oncology at Holy Name Medical Center and a board-certified radiation oncologist. He utilizes cutting-edge techniques, including high-dose rate brachytherapy; volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT); stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), for treatment of brain tumors; and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for treatment of lung, prostate and liver tumors (among others), delivering highly targeted radiation while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue. He has been repeatedly named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly.
Dr. Rosenbluth was an early adopter of prone breast radiation therapy, hypofractionated prostate and breast radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, PET scan-based radiation planing and respiratory gated radiation therapy. He has used innovative techniques to preserve normal organ function, including spaceOAR gel implantation and alpha particle seed insertion, which help protect neighboring organs and healthy tissue during radiation therapy.
He has also utilized intraoperative seed implantation to treat challenging recurrent brain tumors, as well as Yttium-90 internal radiation therapy for liver tumors. He also regularly provides tumor treating field therapy for patients with specific types of brain tumors.
He is an avid researcher who keeps abreast of new technologies designed to shorten complex treatments and to improve treatment planning without compromising outcomes. Dr. Rosenbluth puts his patients first and works tirelessly (with his dedicated physics, treatment planning, and therapy staff) to create highly individualized and personalized treatment plans to provide definitive treatment and/or palliation of tumor-related symptoms.
Dr. Rosenbluth earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He has presented his research at national conferences and has published articles and textbook chapters in the field of radiation oncology.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Rosenbluth is also a Juilliard-trained composer and an avid music lover who has composed for theatrical productions and continues to perform locally.
